Smeg Australia Confirms May 1 Price Rise Amid Industry-Wide Increases
Smeg Australia has confirmed it will raise prices on domestic appliances starting 1st May 2025, joining other appliance brands like Haier、Beko and Worldwide Appliances in implementing price increases.
Managing Director Wayne Campbell informed retailers in an official letter that the price rise will apply to all domestic appliances.
“Please be advised Smeg Australia will implement a price rise across Domestic Appliances effective 1st May 2025.”
Rising Costs Prompt Pricing Adjustments
In the letter, Campbell cited global economic conditions and foreign exchange pressures as key reasons for the increased costs, stating the company has no alternative but to adjust pricing.
“The current global economic conditions and impacts on exchange rates have unfortunately continued to increase costs within the business and leave us no alternative but to implement a price rise to the market.”
Despite the challenges, Smeg intends to continue refining its operations and maintaining competitiveness for its business partners.
“Smeg Australia will continue to analyse the business, improve efficiencies, and strive to ensure that we remain competitive and add value to our business partners.”
Scope and Range of the Increases
The price rise will apply across both major and small domestic appliances, with variations depending on product category. The updated price list will be distributed by the end of March 2025 and effective from 1st May.
“The 1st May 2025 price rise will cover Major and Small domestic appliances and vary across products.”
“The updated price list will be available for distribution by the end of March 2025 and will be effective from 1 May 2025.”
Industry-Wide Pricing Shifts
Smeg’s move is part of a broader trend across the home appliance industry:
- Beko: Price increase of approximately 5–6% effective 7 April 2025, depending on product and category.
- Worldwide Appliances (distributor of Everdure, Omega Altise, Robinhood): Prices increased by 8–15% from 1 March 2025.
JB Hi-Fi CEO Terry Smart recently predicted similar price hikes across the market due to the weakening Australian dollar.
“We are starting to hear from suppliers about price rises, mainly from home appliance suppliers due to the big and bulky product.”
Final Note
In closing, Campbell thanked retailers for their understanding and continued support of the Smeg brand.
“Smeg Aust appreciates your cooperation and understanding to the necessity of this price rise and would like to thank you for your loyalty and continued support of the Smeg brand.”
As global supply chain and currency issues persist, price adjustments in the appliance market appear inevitable. Both retailers and consumers should be prepared for ongoing shifts.
Wayne Campbell
Smeg
- Worldwide Appliances(代理Everdure、Omega Altise、Robinhood):已于2025年3月1日上调价格,幅度介于8%至15%。
Smeg Australia
